About British Journal of Photography:

Founded in 1854 to record the scientific development of a fledgling medium, these days BJP takes an international perspective on contemporary photography, focusing on fine art and documentary, and the cutting edge of editorial and commercial practices.

Each monthly edition (in print and iPad) focuses on a theme, including regular subjects such as Portraits, Education, Journeys and Community, and more esoteric ones such as Habitat or Small Town Inertia. We publish an annual review, Cool & Noteworthy, and an annual talent edition, Ones To Watch.

Each issue includes in-depth features and interviews. We seek out new talent to showcase in our Projects section, and in our Intelligence section we give you briefings and opinion on the latest thinking about the medium and how to make it work as a business.

For more than 160 years, British Journal of Photography has been inspiring people all over the world with incredible stories and images and with our iOS editions it has never been easier to stay in the know.

Latest reviews of British Journal of Photography app for iPhone and iPad

Exceptional publication!
Contrary to some critiques written previously, this paper is an exceptionally good one both in content as in presentation. It seems there is a trend to publish plain PDF files in bad wrapper apps and call it an ePaper. Though font scaling would be nice, this is an interactive paper with a number of features that optimize the reading experience for tablets. Many other publications just dont bother anymore these days.
Good but far from expectation
What I like is that this journal is focused on photography, photographers and images. Thats really great. But there are certain things that I do not like about this iPad or iPhone Version: - No pinch and zoom of the images - Panorama pictures are sometimes put on two pages and theres no way to see the whole image - Layout with small pictures where the contents is hardly recognizable - Where are the scalable fonts? - No multimedia, where are movies about photographers or exhibitions, additional audio content... - Where is the interaction like chat, email, ... - Where is the archive and why is it not searchable? - Why is there a tumblr site that is not integrated? Im sorry to say that this is only just on of the many enriched PDF versions of a printed magazine. The advantages and possibilities of the new medium are not used. The lifetime for magazines like this is limited because they do not add any additional value to the customer except the possibility to get the issue faster.
OMG. *A* List, Top Drawer reading, not to be missed.
The very best photography magazine app, bar none. Smart, gorgeous, awesome. Thank you BJP, keep the faith and keep those of us working at the art inspired.
A Terrific App and Magazine
App works great. All the features seem flawless. The magazine is, of course, a classic so you cant miss by subscribing. The store was a bit confusing but, in the end, I prevailed. A keeper.
Cannot download after subscribing
The BJP is wonderful, but the app wont let me download it. Paid for a years subscription; downloaded the April issue at that time. With issues since, I am prompted to pay the per-issue price before I can download them. Yes, I did use the "restore prior purchases" button, and that pop up screen says that my subscription is good for another year. But still I cannot download any further issues without paying again. I will amend this review once this problem is resolved.
